idea : on all closed map we draw a hard border of 5px (metallic look) and we define in config.xml (example):

more in bottom because interface hide sometimes game, that's an example

What do you think about that ?

I don't know... Personally, open maps have a feeling of infinity that is disturbing, because I prefer imagining the ground to continue rather than something floating in an ocean of nothingness. So I sometimes prefer closed map, for instance the older version of banquise.

But then again, that's just me, and it's not worth the trouble to get around the bug.

My bet is that closed map are just a special case which does not give any advantage.

So the question is : What do you think about removing this feature ?

After all, closed map are maps with a border at each bound and no way to get out of it. If people want to dig a hole until they reach an edge, they can. if they jump in this hole, they leave the battlefield :)

We will only keep a boolean to disable weapon only allowed in opened map.

yekcim reported that he and drayan had to do this to avoid a graphic glitch. I don't know what's the worth, but to me the bug doesn't look like serious.

I can confirm.

I don't remember who decided that open maps should have a padding on the side. I guess this creates "extra pixels" (see for instance InfoMap::GetUpperLeftPad method and how offsets are used when loading map image). Weapon projectiles detect a collision against such places.

I don't know what was the incentive to put such padding, but it seems this was intended by those persons.

On closed map such as vulcano or space 2, you can destroy the ground on the right or left border in such a way that there is no visible frontier with the outside.

However, the behavior is really strange. Characters can go through the frontier and die leaving the battlefield. Rockets explode directly on the border. Grenades made a rebound sound but does not come back in the battlefield, it seems they got stuck in the border and explode here. More strangely, if the active character is nearly outside the map (we see a very small part of the character), the projectile can be launched outside the map and it doesn't collide with the border...
