Sat 24 Nov 2007 11:11:22 PM UTC, original submission:

This problem was observed on a CentOS 5, 64bit host.

The nfsnobody user/group gets assigned the maximum possible ID, which is 65534 on a 32 bit host and 4294967294 on a 64bit host.

The presence of a user/group with this ID seems to cause the addition of new users/groups by sv_users and sv_groups to fail, presumably because the process adds 1 to the highest ID, which then wrap around to 0, which is not a valid ID.
