Ran into a similar issue with the patch tracker for clive. Note that the original issue reported (bug #10670) was with the clive bug tracker.

If you look at the history at the bottom of the page of the patch item at https://gna.org/patch/?869, the patch should be now closed which it isn't.

Granted this isn't not a major issue but I'd like to keep the trackers clean and they're becoming rather riddled with these bogus items.

I'm only guessing now but it may have something to do with the changes I've made to the selected fields. For example, I've made some fields obligatory and others optional. I've also added new fields or removed others. The changes may have taken place AFTER the original submissions were added to the tracker.

Perhaps this is the reason why some old items in the tracker are not closed properly, e.g. some fields are missing that were not submitted with the original submission.

Instead of warning or stopping, the tracker accepts the changes, updates the history and sends out the proper email notifications.
boldBut does not change the status from "open" to "close" even though all of the above tell me otherwise.

Do you think it would be possible to get rid of https://gna.org/bugs/?10478 or at least hide it somehow? It's beginning to appear like a nagging old wife in the tracker.

It can be erased altogether for all I care as it was just a duplicate report to begin with. Much appreciated.

Savane confirms the bug has been closed and the emails have been sent to those involved with it. It does not say anything about any missing or empty fields which it would normally do if there had been any missing/required fields.

Below is the last email that I received after trying to close the bug:

--

"Update of bug #10478 (project clive):

Status: None => Duplicate
Assigned to: None => legatvs
Open/Closed: Open => Closed
Release: => >= 0.3.1
Operating System: None => Any / Non-specific
Fixed Release: => 0.3.5

Follow-up Comment #5:

NOTE: This bug was fixed in 0.3.5. The only reason this bug remains open is because Savane refuses to do so due to an unknown bug in the tracker. The folks at gna.org have been informed."

--

There's also a series of similar changes listed at the end of the bug page under "History". Each of those entries have sent the emails to the recipients saying the bug is now closed. I believe neither emails or the history would exist if Savane blocked any such attempts due to a missing/required field.

My guess is this has something to do with the reassignment from the support tracker to the bug tracker.

What the feedback message?

As plenty of mandatory fields are not filled, you must first fill them before the "close" field can be applied successfully.
