Yes, its true but for now I dont want to let change anything during the connection is up

While you're connected to the VPN, it is impossible to open the preferences dialog.
This might make sense to disallow users to change the preferences while they are connected, but it is very annoying if you just want to see your preferences (for example to write a bug report :-)).
I would suggest to allow users to see the dialog, but to disable any changes, or simply to allow changes but to add a corresponding warning ("The changes will only take effect when reopening the connection!") or so.
