0) I'll attach a patch to add FreeDOS kernel.sys support (because writing that was a nice way to actually try writing some assembler). That'll allow others to play with loadbin on FreeDOS kernel.sys images too.

1) Note that the patch tries to be as non-invasive as possible (ie, only one line added to header.S). However, it is not clear to me why in header.S the "kernel" setup code is moved from 0x90000 (where it will be loaded by the bootloader) to 0x6000. Why can't it just stay at 0x90000? Anyway, for kernel.sys loading the setup code needs to be moved again.
