This is the situation from my point of view:

I doubt it's platform-specific since both system in questions use the same storage formats (i.e. not a big vs. little endian issue).

However, I was playing both as side 2 (blue) and 4 (purple) from the same client, so my chat messages would appear for me with the color of the last side I played. Maybe this has something to do with this bug with side 1's colors.

I have no idea the cause or how to reproduce so I'll just give you the steps that led to it the first time.

1. I hosted a four player match in which I had no side (I wanted to observe)
2. Player one lost all his units and his leader.
3. Player one left and when the menu came up, I replaced him with a local player.
4. Afterwards my labels and chat was blue. It was neither observer white, nor Player one red. It was Player two's turn when Player one left so I guess it assigned me the current team's color.

Ordinarily I think it would have switched me to the correct color on Player one's turn, but player one no longer actually got turns because he had no units. I could also see shadowmaster's units with the green and red balls as if I was still observing. Screenshot attached.

There is one from another point of view, which they will post later. What's interesting there is that from shadowmaster's screen I was the correct color (red). From elvish_soveriegn's point of view I was also blue. So maybe this is operating system specific. I use windows. Shadowmaster uses linux. I will ask what operating system the third person uses.

Or maybe it had to do with the fact that shadowmaster was the legitimate blue player.

Like I said; Too many variables for me to figure out the cause. It's not that important anyway really.
