So you say that it works correctly as it is? This ticket is only about making it simpler? Just trying to decide how critical this ticket is for 2.3.0.

The Trident tileset defines three layers each for ocean and deep ocean.

The first two layers could probably be merged to reduce complexity of the tileset.
