We now have the internal API underpinnings which should allow a mode like this to be implemented without causing too much hassle elsewhere, in case anyone wants to give it a go. Note that the new LineModes do "temporary" stroke rendering, in case we want to go that route.

A radius preview might not be so great, given that the current estimation can be off by > half a radius quite frequently for many brushes.

Might need to attack bug #18574 before attempting this. Possibly a spring-loaded mode on some key or button? Looks like Blender's "F" key draws some sort of radius outline, and a preview of a brush dab in an overlay. Might not be able to do all of that (can we even render an individual dab in MyPaint?), but a visible radius may be doable while locked in a temporary brush resizing mode.

Currently in mypaint you use the 'F' and 'D' buttons a lot to resize brushes. I would like to propose a method like used in both Krita and Blender Sculpt mode where you press a button that shows a widget for resizing, then you resize the brush. I think that this should also be added as an additional feature instead of replacing the current resizing as it does not allow dynamic resizing of the brush.

Please see the following video to see how the brush resizing in Blender works:
