This bug is already Fixed in git, but is marked as Open. I am now
marking it Closed because a new stable version, 1.1.0, is
available, meaning that this bug no longer affects the current
stable release.

Please reopen if this problem reoccurs with the new version of
MyPaint!

OK we now also restore the color: https://gitorious.org/mypaint/mypaint/commit/40a8c5fe

Seems quite usable to me now.

O_o That was fast ! Thx, I will test.

For the behavior, you're probably right. This sound different as other solutions I tested on other software. But as you have proven time and again on Mypaint creation your very great way to approach ergonomy for painter workflow , I totally trust your proposition.

For sure, this sound very good with blending modes ; I can already imagine a 'shader' preset with a light grey color on 'multiply' , and a preset as you said for enlight based on overlay.
Also , this will gives life to preset like 'Fire' , and fun effect. Experimental will grow for sure ;)

I have implemented it:
https://gitorious.org/mypaint/mypaint/commit/9e47356

I remember the same request from someone using MyPaint as whiteboard for lectures. I think it is clear that we should respect the new color if the user chooses a different one while working with such a brush. But should we restore the old color when the user selects another brush again that does not use this feature? I think we probably should do this.

Note: this feature might come in handy once brush blending modes like "overlay" are implemented, so you can make a "brighten up" preset.

Hi,
I was talking on Xchat about this :
Offer the possibility to the user to save also the active color when a brush preset is saved. This can be traduced by a checkbox, unchecked by default.

This can be useful for creating brush set with color embeded ; a kind of hybrid between a hue palette and brush presets. It's also makes possible to reproduce some of traditionnal tool :
ex :
Blue ball pen
Sepia charcoal
Copic markers set
10 default watercolors of tiny box of Windsor&Newton
black inking

This can simulate the feature of software like 'Sketchbook : free Copic edition" ( http://itunes.apple.com/fr/app/sketchbook-copic-edition/id447678864?mt=12 ) and attract other concurrent brand to build preset the same way. ( http://www.brigade97kat.com/product/2075/Sketch/Black-book/Touch-Set-12-P?osCsid=fe0447164cca7953ef5a1717ec122713 )without have to deal with Autodesk. I would be happy to mail their marketing to propose this against sponsoring a developpers for a period.
