By the way, I don't remember if it's documented, but when the option (respect timing) is activated and then you try to increase the length of a subtitle, you are blocked with the next/previous subtitle, you can force the next to move using the CTRL key during the move, this will push the next/previous subtitle until the "minimum display" with min gap respect.

Ah, I see, I never use the mouse to edit the subtitles in the waveform, only the keyboard, so I never noticed. Thanks for the information!

Respect the timing:

you cannot overlap the current selected subtitle with other around when you press first/second button to change the size of the subtitle (begin or end), you cannot make it too small (minimum subtitle size), etc... without this option, you can do what you want in the waveform editor.

The problem actually is that when the video is playing, "Scrolling with selection" (In Waveform menu) does not have any effect. When the video is stopped, selecting another subtitle centers it.

I am not sure about a solution. But for sure:

1) When Scrolling with player is unchecked, scrolling with selection should definitely work.

2) Regardless of if scrolling with player is checked or not, if using "play subtitle" "play previous subtitle" "play next subtitle", if scrolling with selection is checked, those subtitles that are played should be focused.

3) There might be a preference so that "scroll with selected" could take preference and it would move the waveform even if video were playing, but I think it would lead to funny results (it would have to temporarily disable "scroll with video" ,but it is not clear when it would be enabled again - after pausing and resuming?) - so Iwould not do anythign about this.

4) Not really connected - it would be nice if the scrolling were implemented so that the white line indicating the position would be always in the middle. I think I would prefer that than the current jumps when the current positions reaches the border of the waveform.

(out of curiousity, what "respect the timing does?")

Ideally, the selected subtitled would always be in the middle of the waveform.

When playing succesive subtitles (with ctrl+right arrow), the waveform can get partially off screen (which is suboptimal when one is trying to time it to the beginning of an utterance/soundwave).

See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NblCOwOrLZ4 for better explanation.
