It will be in Wesnoth 1.11.2, since it's already in trunk and that's where development releases come from. When will it be released? The plan is "soon", but plans can change. Just be patient.

Will this patch be avaiable soon in form of BfW version 1.11.2?

Right, I just tested it with an unpatched version, and I'm still getting missing units. I don't know why, but at least it doesn't seem to be a problem with the patch. I'd still appreciate it if someone could confirm the patch before I take out the commented lines and commit it.

@peter A patch is a modification for the source code. If you create your binaries you can apply the patch. But I assume you use a pre-build binary; that means you can't test the patch.
@ayne Best remove the code no longer needed instead of commenting it out. Since the bug is assigned to fendrin I leave the testing of the patch to him.

Thank you for the patch, sadly I have no idea how to use it.
Where do I have to put it?
About the missing Gelphrad:
I never noticed this issue, even when I skipped through the campaign for testing purposes. Gelphrad was always there. And I played many many times through the campaign Antar.

I've uploaded a patch, could someone give it a try and confirm if it works please?
Also, I've been getting missing units, for example Gelphrad in the 3rd scenario of Antar. I don't know if this is another bug or just due to me skipping to the end of the scenarios without playing them. Could someone test this as well, please? Thanks.

I play through 'Acquaintance in Need' and found a bug.
Side 2 (Olurf) does not recruit.

In my campaign I have two different sides, alternately playable by the player.
A human side that is always side=1, and a elvish side that is in the first scenario it appears side=2, and in all other scenarios side=1.
With Bfw 1.8 and 1.10 I never had problems with recall lists and switching sides.
But now working with BfW 1.11.1 the elvish sides recall list is gone in the second scenario the elves appear. :(
This never happened to me working with earlier BfW versions.
I added save_id and persistent=yes, but the recall-list is still gone.
Maybe it is a BfW version 1.11.1 bug.

This forum post looks related: http://forums.wesnoth.org/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=38106
I suspect the issue is larger than just this campaign.

Someone (else?) has posted relevant save games here: http://forums.wesnoth.org/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=38087
Save files in OS X are located in /Users/<your account>/Library/Application Support/Wesnoth (version)/

I would, but I for some reason can't figure out where they are located in OS X. Can you provide me with guidance there? I did try to search but couldn't find it with spotlight or by looking where I thought it would be.

Can you post the saves as well? Especially the one that crashes the game.

Sun 16 Dec 2012 02:26:20 PM UTC, original submission:
When playing through the Legend of Wesmere campaign (after the fix that enabled me to continue past the Council of Hard Choices)I have encountered another storyline-interrupting bug. Upon beginning the storyline-only scenarios of Revelations and News from the Front, the preloaded characters (Kalenz, Cleodil, Landar, and Olurf)all revert to their initial levels, and it remains upon starting Human Alliance, with the additional problem of not being allowed to recall any units.
I can verify that the reset happens during News from the Front, but I could not reload Revelations, as the replay save consistently crashes the game.
I am attaching the crash report, in case Revelations is actually the spot where the problem begins.
