This bug tracker will shortly be moving to Github. As part of this process, we are reviewing old bug reports on gna.org.

This bug was marked as "Ready for Test" or "Works for Me" some time ago, but was still classified as Open and no feedback has been submitted since then. I am therefore assuming that the problem has been fixed to everyone's satisfaction (or was't reproducible by anybody else).

If you believe that this bug still affects the most recent git master of MyPaint (and thus the next release), please feel free to open a new issue on
Github about it. Our new issue trackers are:

Can be closed. The brush is working just like it should it's just a different brush to the previous version.

okey, pressure is actually working. It is a bit hard to see that on this brush, sorry. So it's only a speed problem

Hm, okey but how could this be the problem? The tablet is actually working like it should. It's only that brush that has a not working pressure an speed problem, the rest is working fine

That may well be the source of this problem: the way we do autodetection of tablets has changed since 1.0. It's based on the name as presented to the program, and we may need to add a whitelist rule.

Could you please attach the output of "xinput --list", run in a terminal window with your tablet connected? A good way of generating a file which can be attached here is to run

or you can paste the information here in a "verbatim" block: https://gna.org/cookbook/?func=detailitem&item_id=236

Okey, well its this brushpack:

which is the same as "Set2" I guess?

Well anyway the brush behaves the same in "Set2" as in "deevad-v6"

The brush is called "large watercolor fringe" in mypaint 1.1 and "water1" in mypaint 1.0

I checked the settings now, they are a bit different in mypaint 1.0 but that seems to be just little adjustments. I tried the same settings as in mypaint v1.0 but it's still wrong.

The difference in the behavior is this:
In mypaint 1.0 when you draw slow its very blury, when you draw fast it looks like little stars.
In mypaint 1.1 the speed does't make a difference anymore, it always looks like litte stars.

If you could attach a brushpack containing the brush in question, that would be useful. I want to be certain that you're using the same settings from one release to another.

Many thanks for reporting this bug, but this report doesn't test
provide enough information for us to fix the problem you've found.
If you haven't already done so, please could you follow up with:

  • Details of your operating system, release, and desktop

  • The version of MyPaint tested. An exact git revision, or a PPA

version number, or a stable version number.

  • Exact, step by step instructions for reproducing the bug. Be as

detailed as you want, we like it.

  • Where the behaviour deviated from what you expected, and what

you expected.

Don't forget to search for the problem you've been having in Gna!,
and feel free to subscribe to and comment on bug reports other
people have opened.

The more details you can give, the easier it is for us the fix the

In release 1.1.0 a brush is not working correctly anymore.

Here you see the difference

Left: mypaint 1.0
Right: mypaint 1.1.0
