Intuos4

No spurious x=0,y=0 events, as far as I can tell. However, I have noticed another thing. That is, if the pen is not in proximity of the pad, I don't have any flickering, but what happens instead is that a size which appears to be associated with the pad itsself is shown. Meaning that when I change the size with the stylus out of proximity, the stylus' size remains unchanged, when I bring it back.

I do get Motion notify events in the "debug" console there, though, when I use the ring.

I'll take a look at it. Intuos5?

If you open Help > Debug > Test Input Devices, do you see any spurious (x=0.0, y=0.0) events when you touch the pad ring? Or if you have capacitative pad buttons, if you stroke your fingers over any button?

Maybe it's time to filter out such events...

I've mapped the Intuos' ring to F and D, which will make it change the brush size. As of Gtk3, however, this causes the brush to flicker back and forth between the desired size and "some" other size. I suspect the "other" size is the size associated to the device "Pad", to which mypaint switches momentarily while I touch the ring.

I guess I can consider myself lucky that the size of the "Stylus" changes, at all, given that it could easily have happened that because of that temporary switch to the "Pad" only the size associated with the latter would be changed.

It's more or less a cosmetic issue, since one can still tell the size of the brush through the flickering.
