I have observed this bug many times too. It didn't look to me critical.

Contradictionary, the following savegame, created subsequently, but with seperatly started server and client, does load and start, when loaded from within the gtk2 client.

I should add compile options for 2.4.3+ (r26595) gui-gtk-2.0:

--enable-debug=some
--enable-svnrev

Same error here with france scenario. 2 hours played, tried to reload next day. turn 81. reproducible, savegame attached.

Freeciv Version 2.4.3+ (r26595) gui-gtk-2.0 on deb squeeze.

bug 1: savegame won't load

bug 2: server is irresponsible after, does not quit.

bug 3: no error message in client

bug 4: no indication about malfunction expect waiting forever

If loaded in freeciv-server -f, game loads and starts ok.

debug 3 log below.

Well, actually the original reported problem was that the game wouldn't load. I can't reproduce that; it starts fine for me.

I believe this is related to bug #20981 and http://forum.freeciv.org/f/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=101, which has details of the symptom.

I can reproduce the problem ("Savegame: error restoring 'generator' . (You cannot disable the map generator.)") on loading this savegame into my 2.3.4 build.

Whats the bug? You have attached save with turn 0,
and everything looks ok ?
