Ok, it's a feature, they pop out Sentry mode because they get seasick or thought they saw a passing interesting item, i get it. ;) Btw, do they have a maintain sentry visibility at the ship's visibility range or their own?

Normally, transported units are put into 'sentry' mode at they time they are loaded onto a transport, which should mean most people don't run into this.

Bypassing focus won't always be the right thing to do for such units, as moving is not the only action. For instance, Engineers on boats can work on transforming ocean to swamp (admittedly not in the middle of the ocean in the default ruleset). Units could convert to other types, etc.

When loaded, land units appear for their turns when completely surrounded by water, this is illogical, maybe someone likes this, but it is not possible to move these units.
