Changing the transitions in the stable series would be inadvisable, since some people may have created maps relying on the transition you are objecting to. So this could only be fixed in 1.11. And in fact, it was already fixed in 1.11 before this bug report was made?

If I understand the report correctly, there is nothing to do, so I'm going to close it. If I misunderstood, reply and I can re-open it.

Note that this only reproduces in the 1.10 code line, 1.11.6 does not have the issue and the beach transition is correctly used.

In the past it was possible to create a beach by combining desert terrain and water tiles. Now the transition is a hard line and the wrong borders are used. The transition in 1.10 uses a dirt border instead of a sand-like border. This makes it impossible to create a beach in 1.10 and have it look at all decent.

I've tried all water tiles (Wog, Wo, Ww, Wwt, etc.) and both Ds and Dd for desert with no luck.

In Wesnoth 1.8 this created a seamless transition.

It seems like this is a regression since Ds is actually classified as Beach Sands.
