Remove obsolete 'TYPE=MyISAM' from MySQL database creation, as it is
incompatible with new MySQL/MariaDB and anyway unnecessary.

Just removed TYPE=MyISAM; this worked with the MySQL 5.5 I just tried it with, and reviewing the CREATE TABLE syntax docs for older MySQL it seems that it was always optional.

Manuel Umlauf reports on freeciv-dev that setup_auth_server.sh for the MySQL backend no longer works out of the box. (See referenced mailing list post for details.)

Apparently the current equivalent syntax is 'ENGINE=MyISAM', but could we just remove this detail? Will that work on older MySQL?
