Indeed, that's a stupid issue. I think there's even an old comment saying it's stupid, no?

I noticed it a long time ago but I never fixed it (it works, it's just unclean and cause remnant to be kept over decades).

If the value is unchanged, it is better to keep it to NULL. That way, if the project group type setting is modified, the change will automatically apply to the project.

I had lots of project that still used old parameters from pre-comprise time, especially homepages (freesoftware.fsf.org...) and the old Web ViewCVS link (pointing to cvsroot=http://www.gnu.org instead of cvsroot=Web).
