I guess I did use delayed shroud update, as I usually do.
It doesn't happen if I don't use it.
The replay also always crashed on my turns (playing against AI)

Oops, I'm sorry I forgot to check that. stderr gives
wesnoth: src/synced_context.cpp:39: static bool synced_context::run_in_synced_context(const std::string&, const config&, bool, bool, bool, boost::function2<void, const std::string&, bool>): Assertion `use_undo || (!resources::undo_stack->can_redo() && !resources::undo_stack->can_undo())' failed.

what do you mean by 'crash'? a segfault/undefined behaviour? an assertion error? or the game is just closing?
was there any information in the sderr.txt file?

For both 1.12 and master the all mp replays I tried to watch so far crashed the game. All games where played locally and latest crash was on turn 3. I loaded them via the main menu, getting the warning about this being a mp scenario, because starting via multiplayer doesn't work, see e.g. bug #21929.
