When you put it like that...

Probably just fix the initial focus issue then.

So it should track value of Modpack URL (also when it's being edited by hand) and be enabled only when it looks like legal modpack URL (currently; when it has ".modpack" suffix). There's no need for the modpack URL to be one of the ones from the default modpack.list presented above it.

In freeciv-mp-gtk2, (in my theme) the list comes up with a rectangular outline around the first list item; but if you click "Install modpack" at this point you get the slightly cryptic "This does not look like modpack URL".

At this point, the "Modpack URL" field says http://modpack.freeciv.org/2.6/ . I don't think the outline is a proper list selection; if I click on the first item, in my theme selection is solid reverse video (and the URL changes, and clicking the button works). I think the outline is a cursor or something (I can get it back with Ctrl + arrows).

freeciv-mp-gtk3 comes up with the first item selected properly. freeciv-mp-qt comes up with no selection and nothing that can be mistaken for one.

Two things here:

  • freeciv-mp-gtk2 should not come up in such a confusing state.
  • Since it's possible to have no selection in any of the GUIs, it would be nice if the "Install modpack" button were disabled when there's no chance of it doing anything useful.
