Maybe the modpack.list on http://modpack.freeciv.org could offer this info (for 3.0 or later). **Older** sounds good, I thought that MP can only determine equality (for your orange suggestion) or not equal, but thinking again, of course unequal must be older -- weird cases involving restored backups on ONE modpack server not withstanding, with more than one server offering the same modpack at different versions it could get tricky ;-)

I've been planning to color-code the lines in modpack list
- If downloadable version is older than already installed: Red
- If downloadable version is same as already installed: Orange

That would also require control to override this bahavior for Orange in cases where version number does not change ("-svn" -versions).

In general this would use cvercmp to figure out which version number is lower or same as installed one.

There's no currently possibility for the modpack installer to know what the download size will be (in some cases the downloads are even generated when download begins, so don't exist beforehand)

If the ModPack installer for a given release "sees" that version x.y of a given ModPack does or used to exist locally. and the remote version claims to be the same x.y, it could ask if folks really want to download x.y again.

Mostly interesting for tilesets or music, where huge downloads of something I already have could be a bad idea. Somehow I managed to download Amplio several times today. ;-)

2nd wish, an apparently so far unused right click could display some info before a download attempt, e.g., the size.
