Thanks, something like that may be implemented in SVN now. It works a bit different, but you can now:

  • Start campgen, load your campaign (mainly so pathes and all gets set up for it, you will never save it)
  • Click the scenario in the list which appeared to the right
  • Click on "Place Items" on the scenario screen, this directly brings up the item placer
  • back in the scenario screen, click on "Export Items", then click export, and it will ask for a text file into which it will write PLACE_IMAGE macros

(the other stuff already present in the GUI, units/tiles/fake moves/... doesn't work yet, but will before the next release)

I'm working with Taurus on polishing Northern Rebirth for mainline. I'd like to place scenery on some of the NR maps, but manual WML-hacking and jumping through all the hoops needed in campgen to create a dummy campaign both seem like far too much work.

I'd like to be able to call campgen in a mode that reads a map, goes direct to the scenery-placer, and on exit dumps a list of
PLACE_IMAGE calls to standard output.
