I spent last night trying to work out the best way to get svn-mailer configured to track SVN posts automatically. I've had some success, but I think the process could be made simpler.

What I propose is that

1. Easier configuration of svn-mailer

a file svn-mailer.conf.savane is added that gives a basic notion of how to do this. At this early stage I have hardcoded my file for testing, but I suggest something like this:

2, Non hardcoded SVN hooks

A scheme is considered so that we have a directory

in which there are files of the form

or whatever, the second part obviously is a recognised SVN template name.

Now, when a new project of that group is created, we copy the appropriate hooks to it, which gives a less hardcoded way of dealing with this.

3. Easy integration to a project-svn mailing list

Being able to track commits with a mailing list is very useful. I suggest we create default post-commit scripts with something like this:

I haven't checked all the shell script here, but I want to see if you think it's worth continuing on this line, in which case I'll start working on patches.
