Well, meanwhile I figured a pretty nice solution (still a workaround compared to a muse builtin).

I now simply use occur

----------------
C-c C-o runs the command occur
which is an interactive compiled Lisp function in `replace.el'.
It is bound to C-c C-o.
(occur regexp &optional nlines)

Show all lines in the current buffer containing a match for regexp.
This function can not handle matches that span more than one line.
-----------------

to get something like this http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/6795/musecontentsworkaroundlz8.png

I simply used the regex ^* which also returned one fals positive as you can see.

But still, a muse builtin would be fine - I think that should not be that hard since one could easily take the occur code and provide a fixed regex.

You could use outline-minor-mode to get a similar overview. It's not quite the same, since it it folds the original buffer rather than showing the structure in a separate one, but it does allow you to see and navigate around the document structure.

I also use outline-magic http://www.astro.uva.nl/~dominik/Tools/outline-magic.el: this provides org-mode like functionality for easy hiding and showing of document structure in outline mode.

Hi there,

I am also a fan of texinfo. Texinfo has a great feature muse doesn't have yet. It's texinfo-show-structure and it can do http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/6691/texinfoshowstructurekw1.png
i.e. it displays a structure summary. I am completely addicted to that function since above a certain number of lines per file humans simply loose overview about a files structure.

Therefore I suggest (beg so damn hard) to implement the texinfo-show-structure pendant with muse.
