Adding possibility for projects to choose git as version control system would help reducing server load. Also git would be improvement for hosted projects because it is more powerful than svn.

Of course setting up git services would require programming effort. Possible source of git system might be gnu Savannah.

Basic idea how to add git as choice would be:
1. New projects can choose either git or svn as repository.
2. Existing project can choose to move from svn to git. (Back from git to svn is technically hard so no support for it)

git repository should be setup to allow push access for developers using ssh. (that way working with git would be very similar to current svn repository)
