Okay, I have opened a new bug for this issue.

Please, report such minor gui obstacles that you find in your workflow, I want to know about them.

"Vladimir, if I understand you correctly you don't see an application freeze, but it is "just" an annoyance?"

You're right. I've misread whole bug report. Sorry for that.

"So what you would want is that you immediately start painting when releasing CTRL while still applying pressure, correct?"

Another yes. I'd love to see that behavior. It'd speed up painting for me a lot.

Reopening.

Vladimir, if I understand you correctly you don't see an application freeze, but it is "just" an annoyance?

"My vote goes to - pen lifting or ctrl release should deactivate color picking, no matter which event happens first."

This is how it works at the moment. Releasing CTRL stops picking. However the window doesn't disappear until you release the stylus.

So what you would want is that you immediately start painting when releasing CTRL while still applying pressure, correct?

I can still reproduce this issue with today's git. On Ctrl key release picker square still stays on.

This is quite error prone behavior when you tend to work fast. My vote goes to - pen lifting or ctrl release should deactivate color picking, no matter which event happens first.

Thanks, it's fixed on Karmic . Tested ... and I could even ( with the GIT link ) do myself the fix on the Portnov branch.

I also noticed that this did work correctly when using the mouse instead of the tablet.

Should be fixed now in the main branch:

I can reproduce this. It only happens with Ctrl-Click, not when pressing R.

Problem :
With this bug, color picking become non-user friendly with stylus ; CTRL+Pen stroke = color picking + the "color picker square preview pop-up" display on the workspace( as usual ), but this time refuse to disapear after release CTRL.
So, the square is still pop-up and user can't paint/select menu/select tools as if the application freeze.
Issue : user must put cursor over the "color picker square preview pop-up"

Tested on :
- Mypaint:master (1 dec )
- an old Mypaint:Master on my PC ( 3 month ago )
- Iportnov-clone (1 dec )
- an old Iportnov-clone ( 2 month ago )

Old 7.1 instalation is ok, CTRL+Mouse Click is ok , Color picking with shortcut (menu Color>Pick color ) is ok.
