The "always show selected ellipse" and "don't show interaction stuff on map when interaction is disabled" things have been done.

I think the movement orb, HP/XP bar thing was fixed when the hover-hex images were cut in two to prevent them from decapitating units.
This leaves just the speaking indication.

The new hex highlighting (the golden "box" around the hex) is an improvement, but the change has left some rough edges.

Important:

  • The selected ellipse should be used on the selected unit weather or not ellipses are turned on. This is in addition to the long-time unit brightening. Currently there isn't enough indication of the selected unit.

Moderate:

  • In order to avoid obscuring information, the movement-orb/HP/XP bar complex was layered above the hover-hex.
  • Currently the hover-hex box is used to indicate which unit is "speaking". I don't think this works well. Instead i would use the selected ellipse (again, weather or not ellipses are turned on), and the unit brightening. It would also be nice to have a special overlay for this situation so we can place a speech ballon over speaking units.
  • I've committed 3 different versions of the hover-hex box so it looks different when over your units and enemy units.

Nice:

  • There are times when the player can't interact with the map, i.e. anytime there's the hourglass icon, also when dialogue, fake moves, or AI moves are happening. To simplify things and differentiate when the player can do stuff from when he can't the hover-hex should be omitted. Durning these times can't-go-here lines should also be omitted.
