A good candidate feature for 1.2 - should be easy to add, and the current UI for setting this feature is basically nonexistent.

I've migrated the bug across to Github, https://github.com/mypaint/mypaint/issues/9 - closing this report in favour of the new one.

Thanks for the update on this is awesome. It will be nice if possible to adjust the transparency of the axis.It will be nice to adjust the transparency

The axis is now more visible, at least. There's still no really precise way of setting it, but it should be easy to write a mode with a subwindow for adjusting and toggling the axis that works like the existing frame edit mode.

There's the possibility of adding a mode for this nowm, working like the Frame Edit tool.

Thanks for making the change but its little difficult to possession the center where we want it exactly. It will be nice if we can just click to a specific spot and make it as center

The symmetry centre can now be set by toggling it off, then toggling it on again in the current git master. When you turn it on, a new axis of symmetry is established passing through the middle of the display. Can you give it a try and let me know whether the notion "feels right"?

There's no overlay for it yet, but I'd like to add one - it may aid usability. Goal is to not have to split splitting axis toggling and axis centre-setting, if we can. If a new axis must be aligned with something on the drawing after a period of non-symmetry, making it visible would help!

The line of symmetry can only be a vertical line on the working document itself, but I'm not sure that's worth trying to fix right now.

Me any my friends normally use horizontal symmetry to develop quick character designs and use the vertical symmetry combined with horizontal symmetry to come up with new ideas about some designs in game world and some patterns and designs on the characters cloth or in armour etc. Please have look at this video

We certainly need an easy way to set the symmetry center. At the moment it's hard to continue a symmetrical painting once you lost the axis (e.g. after loading).

Compared to the usefulness of horizontal symmetry, I think we can safely ignore vertical symmetry for now. No point adding the more specialized features while horizontal symmetry still has usability problems. (Btw. what is vertical symmetry typically used for?)

It would be nice to specify where the center of the symmetry should be and some overlay to find where the center is. The document frame offsets the center of the symmetry if the the user is given the control to specify where the center of the symmetry should be it will be awesome. Please add the x and y symmetry rightnow there is only x symmetry and if possible please add multi-hand symmetry like krita has which is a cool feature which helps develop cool concepts and ideas in a very short time
