As of 14 May 2006, 13:00 GMT-1 CVS/SVN/Arch, download areas and home pages are down. Our hosting facility suffered a general power down. All gna.org machines but one rebooted. We are working on this issue and more information will be posted as soon as possible. If you can help or want more information, call +33 x xx xx xx xx.
Update at 17:44 UTC+0200: Things are back to normal. Post a support request in case of trouble. Sorry for the trouble.

The machine is back and the problem was kind of a stupid one. The bios instructed the machine to not power on after a power fail. We were remotely pulling the plug to have it reboot but it would not respond. I changed the bios settings, pushed the power button, watched the fsck run (file system check limit exceeded) and the machine was back with no trouble at all.
The source of the problem is a general power failure in the machine room. And it is part of the reason why we are moving the machines to a new location in two weeks. More information about this will be posted soon. |

I hope it is not a too serious issue.
Good luck with that |

We are forced to plan a manual intervention, which is not so easy since we are on sunday. |

What a pity. I could have helped with this but I am too far from Paris (150 kilometers).

Hopefuly there will be no "next time", but Im usually not far from this place.
If you decide to setup a 'helpers group', add my email.
What about a subscription to order some good power protection units ?

So, admins, is there a need for better power backups ? If so, is there a paypal-like account somewhere for GNA ?

Hello,
Normally power backups should be fine, provided by Free. As said in Loic in another comment, it was an misconfiguration of the BIOS that caused it not to reboot.
However, you can always support us financially by making a donation to FSF France, as stated at http://about.gna.org/#introduction |
