Announce: Gna's second anniversary

Item posted by Mathieu Roy <yeupou> on Fri 27 Jan 2006 07:36:11 AM UTC.

Two years ago, in January 2004, was founded. Since then January 2005 [1], 312 projects were registered and 2059 user accounts created. More than 4 thousands items were posted on the different trackers [2].

For your convenience, this last year, we created a low traffic news/announce mailing-list [3], made available Subversion source code repositories [4], increased the number of blacklists used to filter spam [5], tried to provide Archzoom [6, 7], implemented checks of GPG signed files in the download areas [8], replaced Viewcvs by Cvsweb at [9].

We published several "hotspots", interviews with projects authors. Were interviewed: Asteriko (hotspot #4), Livret du Libre (hotspot #5), Dianosis (hotspot #6), Freebooters (hotspot #7), √Čtoil√© (hotspot #8) [10].

We did our best to keep things up and in the overal it looks like it was not without results. But there were still a few glitches, here's the list of availability issues encountered this year: 16 hours long outage of all services in May (mostly during the night from a sunday to a monday) due to a power outage [11], Savane database corrupted and restored to it's status of 5 hours before in June [12], Subversion commit notifications lost during 5 days in October [13], 4 hours downtime of several services during one January 2006 night [14].

We'd like to say thank you to the people that helped us this year: providing us bandwidth and collocation, the FSF France providing us the main hardware, for secondary DNS provision.
