Status: Open

Adun currently includes tools for the calculation and analysis of several dynamical properties of macromolecules. Several force fields have already been implemented (Enzymix, Charmm and AMBER) and a sophisticated distributed database of simulations results can be directly accessed by the program. Simulation methods currently include Newtonian and Langevin molecular dynamics.

Details (job description, contact ...):

The Computational Biochemistry and Biophysics Laboratory (CBBL) at the Research Unit on Biomedical Informatics (GRIB) is seeking a highly motivated researcher with an MSc in Bioinformatics, Biophysics, Computer Sciences or related subjects. The candidate should have a deep interest in mathematical, biophysical and computational developments in the fields of molecular simulations and/or systems biology related to their biomedical applications.

The candidate will participate, depending on his/her profile, in the FP6 EC-funded STREP projects BioBridge and QosCosGrid. The candidate will be appointed to the development of tools for interfacing omics and clinical data for complex diseases, like COPD, through simulation and/or for molecular simulations. His/her tasks will involve the further development of our software tools Adun and ByoDyn. The profile of the candidate is wide, including researchers coming from engineering fields, but deep knowledge of C/Objective C, Python, and/or Modelica object oriented programming and on bindings to other programming languages is required. Experience on code parallelization is a plus. Holding an MSc is a requisite for those researchers wishing to pursue the PhD program of the Departament de Ciències Experimentals i de la Salut at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra.

Although funding is guaranted for 2 years, own initiatives to obtain an external fellowship will be strongly supported.

The GRIB/UPF is part of the new Barcelona Biomedical Research Park which, with a privileged location on the shoreline of the Mediterranean sea, constitutes one of the most exciting interdisciplinary research centres in South Europe in one of the fastest growing biomedical research regions in the area.

To apply, please, send a statement of interest, your CV and the name of two referees to whom we may contact for details.
