Älg - Summary
Update: Älg is currently unmaintained as I lost interest in it. If you want to take it up, let me know.
Älg aims to manage the entire digital photography treatment workflow, from the transfer to the storage. It is of interest to both professional photographers and everyone that stores photos on a computer.
It does not aim to replace any of the excellent softwares that already exist and perform a single task (exiftool, gqview, gimp, ufraw...) but rather provide an efficient way to use them.
Among the planned features, there should be rating of photos, sorting using any available metadata, a powerful directories organization, heavy use of metadatas, import of any photo directory and much more.

Älg 0.0.2 has just been released. And it has entirely been rewritten in perl!
I realized that C was slowing me down a lot and that it was not the best tool for such a project (as Älg involves a lot of regexps and file manipulation, things perl is good at).
This should also be the first really usable version of Älg. I know I used it yesterday to import a directory, and it worked really well.
It's soon time to begin implementing all these shiny features!

The first public version of Älg has just been released.
It's of course far from complete and has almost no feature (thus the 0.0.1 version number) but it provides the skeleton of the application and should already be usable (press 'h' to have help).
If you try it, even if you don't like it (actually, especially if you don't like it), please contact us. Feedback is very important.
