gp2xmb - Summary
Background
In my view the GP2X really needed a better launcher, the one which comes with the machine does its work but it was not very appealing. Ever since I first saw the XMB (Cross Media Bar) I enjoyed its simplicity. I really wanted to implement such a system for the GP2X, as I believed it would make the system even better.
The GP2XMB
GP2XMB is a clone of the XMB found on the Sony PSP and PS3, in its final form it should at least have:
- picture viewer
- game browser
- music player (ogg, mp3)
- video player (as many as MPlayer supports)
- file manager
Many of these features are already supported by the standard firmware, but it is the aim of this projects to implement new versions which integrate better with this particular launcher.

After a short delay I have managed to pull the new release together. Not much this time, but the new features are vital to get GP2XMB to the point where it does not have to rely on the original firmware ...

This release features a support for themed backgrounds and features to allow the user to set any picture as a wallpaper.

This release features a simple vorbis player, a launcher for the internal mplayer and some bug fixing. Grab it while it is fresh.
