Hi!
I'm really sorry to hear about you losing your recording.. As I'm sure you understand though, since this program is given away as free software under the GPL the responsibility for it's usage falls on the user.
This kind of home studio usage was not really what the program was originally designed to do. The original purpose was that you would record from sound card and then only the recording window and perhaps a mixer program would be active while recording. That's an explanation for why it looks the way it does.
I don't have much time to work on mhwaveedit these days, but if I find some simple way to improve the visibility of the record dialog I'll try to do it.
Regards,
Magnus

I absolutely love mhwaveedit, however I have a problem, not technically a bug but definately something which has caused me great misery the same.
I use a number of different programs and feedback their audio outputs to mhwaveedit using jack to record the production. I'm often tinkering with different programs and some of them are fullscreen or have multiple windows etc. Frequently I start the production, thinking that mhwaveedit is recording when really it is not. My eyesight isn't perfect, and I really like how timemachine's recording function is obvious- big green button, bush the button and it turns red which means you are recording. In mhwaveedit I would like something like this, the option for something like this. something big and obivious which states that recording has begun. Because the way it is, unless one is focused on the window itself and pays attention to the writing on the record window there is no way to discren whether it is infact recording. The title name doesn't change, nothing really happens to indicate that it is recording apart from those couple lines of information on the recording window which is in my case, typically buried under a stack of other windows anyway. So what does this mean? I make an epic production and after everything, because of this problem, it is lost forever. This is heart breaking, please add something, the option for something, which indicates clearly that recording has begun- even if it means using suckless to display an OSD, or adding a big green button. yeah I know, you will probably say "it's unessecary cruft" and I respect that, however I cannot bear to live with another one of my productions being missed because of this unfortunate situation. thankyou.
