Now I'm receiving the expected barrage of delivery failure messages! This includes a new software version I announced a few days ago. The failure message is:

Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:

-unavailable-

Technical details of permanent failure:

Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 421 421 Unexpected failure, please try later (state 18).

Hi,

Let me connect this bug :
http://gna.org/support/index.php?2906

And suggest to retitle this bug to something like :

urgent: mail.gna.org = 421 Unexpected failure, please try later

Also It would be good to track progress on a single bug tracker ...

this one is the most active :

The messages are not being queued, but are being rejected and will very soon be permanently lost. This is what I see from my tests:

This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification

THIS IS A WARNING MESSAGE ONLY.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO RESEND YOUR MESSAGE.

Delivery to the following recipient has been delayed:

-unavailable-

Message will be retried for 1 more day(s)

Technical details of temporary failure:
Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 421 421 Unexpected failure, please try later (state 18).

I've just emailed various admins at non-gna email addresses about this mail outage.

We've seen no mail through on any of the Freeciv lists since the 25th either (and we would expect plenty). And it's not showing up in the mail archives either.

Since there are already plenty of tickets about the mail service failure (this, sr #2904, sr #2905, sr #2906), I sha'n't create another.

(I hope the Gna administrators are not relying on email to be notified of new support requests...)

All messages sent to my mailing lists in the last 2 days have been dropped! See the following:

https://mail.gna.org/public/relax-commits/2012-04/threads.html
https://mail.gna.org/public/relax-users/2012-04/threads.html
https://mail.gna.org/public/relax-announce/2012-04/threads.html
https://mail.gna.org/public/relax-devel/2012-04/threads.html

All of these lists have had messages sent to them in the last two days, but there are no archived messages for 'April 26' or 'April 27'. These bouncing messages will probably permanently disappear soon. This is very, very serious!!!

There is a major problem with the mailing lists. Messages sent to the relax mailing lists (https://gna.org/mail/?group=relax) are bouncing. When I try to log into the administrative interface, I see the text:

-----
Bug in Mailman version 2.1.13

We're sorry, we hit a bug!

Please inform the webmaster for this site of this problem. Printing of traceback and other system information has been explicitly inhibited, but the webmaster can find this information in the Mailman error logs.
-----

Does anyone know what is happening?

Cheers,

Edward
