Wed 07 Nov 2012 09:45:54 AM UTC, original submission:

Recent versions of smbldap-useradd no longer check for user id collisions between local users (/etc/passwd) and LDAP users.

The changeset where the check(s) got lost was apparently SVN revision 68.

The new code only checks for collisions with LDAP users, but no longer with local users.

This is clearly a change in behaviour -- was it intended?
In other words: will this stay as-is or could a change to the previous behaviour be expected?

For us it is certainly a problem as we are using smbldap-useradd in an automated setup. Previously we relied on smbldap-useradd doing this check, and so we are now seein uid collisions.
