Fri 10 Jul 2009 08:39:05 AM UTC, original submission:

Right now, gmail.com is in 'RBL: Envelope sender in postmaster.rfc-ignorant.org'.

http://www.rfc-ignorant.org/tools/lookup.php?domain=gmail.com

This gives a message 1.7 spam points.
This means, that a message with 10-20% html markup (which gives additional 1.4 spam points) is very likely to be stopped by GNA spam filters - as only 0.2 points more are needed to push it over the 3.3 points needed to qualify as spam.

For example of legitimate mail blocked by GNA spam filter for this reason, see https://mail.gna.org/public/spam/2009-07/msg05160.html
Note that this message comes from an address known to GNA ( https://gna.org/users/cjhopman )

False positives (Such messages being incorrectly marked as spam), disturb the developers and cause various problems.

Therefore, I propose to change spam filters in the following way:
either
1)
--
whitelist gmail.com from hitting 'RBL: Envelope sender in postmaster.rfc-ignorant.org' rule
--
2) give mails from registered GNA users better chance of going through the spam filters.
