The default replyto proposed is now NO-REPLY.INVALID-ADDRESS. I think that should be enough for now, we'll look more deeply into that if necessary.

I made the proposed change for the url link but I did not implemented the more complex configurability change (not completely trivial in fact).

Sounds good. We may even default to "via Savane" so as to advertise the software :)

That's the way it's shown at CERN

From: "noreply [anonymous]" <noreply-savannah@cern.ch>"

I do not really enjoy it much but copying it would make the whole stuff more consistent between installations. I'd prefer the "Bla bla via INSTALLATION". Opinions?

Finally, we could make this configurable with strings, that could be the best. One could have

"\"noreply [%USER]\" <noreply-savannah@cern.ch>"

while another would have

"%USER via Gna! <NO-REPLY.INVALID-ADDRESS@gna.org"

That's maybe the wisest choice.

I like this idea.

Maybe the noreply address should be something more clear like
NO-REPLY.INVALID-ADDRESS@domain
That would be set by Savane. And this actually would not really need to be site configurable (we could keep the configuration option but not setting it in the configuration by default and not requiring it be configured.
I think at some point I thought about showing the name like
"Popol via Gna! <address>", the via INSTALLATION that would have given a clue about the way to show it.

I know the CERN installation got a specific dirty hack for the From: field, I do not remember exactly how it looks like. Maybe we could copy it.

We get several people replying to mail notifications at Savannah - and then complain.

Is there a way to make it clearer that people should not reply to the notifications?

I do not really like Buzilla's way ("PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO THIS MAIL").

We could, for example, replace "This item URL is:" by "Reply to this item at:".

Maybe something can be made more explicit in the beginning of the mail as well.

This is a temporary solution until we implement a mail interface. I am motivated by the idea, although I lack time at the moment. (Incidentally, by looking at how RT (badly) implements the feature, I also think it is not a trivial one.)

Any though?
