Add more fields to BibTeX entries. Those entries require new editing widgets:

"research notes" are comments on a scientific publication, such as a researcher's own annotations. Rich text editor useful, but which format to use? HTML, RTF, LaTeX, ...
"grade" would allow to set a mark on papers, e.g. 4 out of 5 stars or similar. For visualization, use stars, smilies or alike. Would be stored as plain text field such as

grade = "4.5/5",
level = "3/10"
