GTK+ 2.24.10, of course

I've uploaded Windows installers created with build environment gnuwin32-2013-05-01 (GTK+ 2.14.10) at the usual places and one created with build environment gnuwin32-2012-08-03 (GTK+ 2.16.6) at http://download.gna.org/freeciv/packages/windows/testing/Freeciv-2.3.5-win32-gtk2(2.16.6)-setup.exe

There's also still the option of a crosser based build as suggested by Marko.

Yes.

Would it make sense to upload crosser based build (if one with neither bug can be made) to sourceforge, and if yes, where there (presumably not to same place with the official installer builds to avoid confusion, people accidentally downloading something which they cannot easily install).

I can make such an build available in cazfi.net in any case, but as I always need to remove old builds to make space for new ones, it would live there only a couple of months.

crosser itself is in sourceforge in its own project, so current versions of it, one that I would now build freeciv against, will remain available even when new one gets released.

This appears to be the case :(

My inclination is to go with the newer libraries, hopefully fixing bug #21272 but probably breaking CJK input methods (bug #21038). But it's a crap choice to have to make.

We haven't made the release yet, but creating the ticket in advance to discuss build parameters.

This is in general of lower priority than the 2.4.2 packages (task #7762) if there's a conflict.

There's an argument for building with a newer version of Gtk than 2.3.4 had (maybe this is in fact the path of least resistance for you?)

In favour: bug #21272 smells like a Gtk bug and we vaguely hope that a newer Gtk2 might clear it up.
(Our wild guess was that at least 2.24.7 might suffice, and there's anecdotal evidence that 2.24.8 makes it go away. So the latest available 2.24.10 used for 2.4.x should be fine.)

Against: maybe bug #21038 turns out not to happen in 2.3.4 (with its older Gtk 2.16.6, in which case we get to choose between two bugs. (Yay.)
