Only CVS remains running woody.

Well, I would do it if you dont (your patch is cleanly documented) but if I do, I will not complain :))

Do you want me to package a patched CVS for Sarge ?

Hum, I forgot to include the mail system, that will come after cvs and before. the main system.

This one will be more subtile, with exim4 and mailman upgrade.

It's finished for arch. Next will be the cvs server (nothing complicated expect, just have to patch the correct cvs package), and finally will come the main systems.

So far, easy to upgrade system (dl, home, db, www, members) has been dealth with.

Later (say next month, main system and cvs will be performed)... And finally we should deal with the mail system.

It would be best if everything was over before august but we definitely dont want to test new things 2 days before going on vacation...

Ok, so how I see things:

- migrate easy to handle systems: download, homepage, www, db (maybe arch)
- wait one month: prepare migration of main systems and cvs... an finally deal with the most complex case of the mail system.

I agree with that proposal. I hadnt in mind to migrate everything in a short time.

I propose to take it easy ! I know it's hard after 3 years of long waiting :)

The only need to migrate is driven by the need to be maintained. However right now Woody is still maintained (mainly security-wise), and there's no hurry at all.

I've switched Bart and Lisa's APT source labels from 'stable' to 'woody', this way we can still grab quickly security updates with a simple 'apt-get update/dist-upgrade'. We'll have to explitly edit sources and change the label to 'sarge' to migrate. [BTW, for some odd reason apt missed an old security update and caught it only today: http://packages.debian.org/stable/base/gzip)

We should have at least a minimal agenda. Maggie is migrated and it looks like it went fine. It will need some logalert tuning and maybe some monitoring enhancements (like the one induced by chkrootkit upgrade, my bad!). For instance: let's migrate some non-critical services (download, homepage) let's week, and schedule another one for next+next week.

I'll migrate box after box, services after services. Currently I'm handling maggie. Production servers will not be touched until sarge is really announced as stable and available on mirrors as stable.

Seems that it will happen in June: http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2005/05/msg00020.html

At some point, we'll have to migrate to sarge. The current approach is to wait for its release.
